The story behind the Biz

I've always loved anything in the creative realm- dancing, singing, sketching, writing, etc. Photography didn't seem to show up until I was 26, living as a single girl in NYC. It was a breath of fresh air, opening up a whole world that was much needed at the time. I was quite literally falling apart, not dealing with trauma that was coming back to haunt me. The city had become scary, and my hope in myself and the world was deteriorating.

At the time, I had a tiny point-and-shoot camera, and I spent my free time photographing flowers, brown stones in the Village, and anything interesting I came across in the farmers markets. A few months later, I decided to move back to Houston, where I upgraded to my first DSLR, and sought out healing for my broken heart. This is when I started following Jesus, and I was able to see that this whole photography thing was actually a gift from Him.

In 2012, I became obsessed with all things photography. I spent hours and hours on the computer, studying youtube videos, reading webpages for beginners, and begging all my friend and family to let me shoot them. It was exhausting in the best way, and even though I got very frustrated with myself often, I stuck with it. I went from photographing anything and everything (families, weddings, seniors, parties, you name it!) to finally specializing in 2019 to families and babies. I have clients who have been with me since my very early days that have become like family to me, and I love that my business continues to grow through word of mouth.

WHAT'S IN MY CAMERA BAG?

I'm a Canon girl and use a 6d Markii. My favorite lenses are my Canon 35mm and SigmaArt 24mm. I love incorporating unique things in my sessions, like fairy lights, copper pipes, prisms, a sandwich bag, and panty hose. If you just said, "whattt" in a high pitched voice, I know, I know. Just trust me with my weird artsy ideas.

I also love incorporating nature in my shots, so pulling leaves or branches down from nearby trees or bushes is a common occurrence. Also me falling into a bush or poking myself in the eye happens, but somehow we still get the shot!
